Mission Statement

The Iranian Search And Rescue Society is a charitable non-profit , non governmental corporation consists of volunteer personals which supports SAR missions, SAR educations and trainings, coordinates, develops, informs, promotes, implements and evaluates search, rescue and all risk emergency response resources with the underlying principle of saving lives.

History of Organization

The Iranian Search and Rescue Sociaty " IRANSAR"  was organized in 1997 by group of rescuers in effort to provide  support and rescuee services  during emergencies such as ;  rescue & relief support in earthquake disaters, airline accidents in wilderness environments , mountain rescue operations , flood rescue and  also, provide technical skills and educational support to search and rescue organizations such as the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Fire rescue services , Mountain rescue groups and emergency medical responders .

In June of 2003, individual candidates from several organizations were selected to serve as IRANSAR Board of Directors and the organization filed a petition for non-profit corporation (NGO)  with the Ministry of Interior of Iran. In December of 2006 , The operational permit Nr. 27862/T/31281/H was granted by M.I. of Iran under section 138 of national law. 

Activities

Since 1998, IRANSAR staffs have been involved with developing curriculum and programs   based on domestic and international standards especializing in search and rescue operations. The Iranian Red Crescent Society IRCS also adapted and consolidated several IRANSAR's curriculums and trainings as standard programs within the IRCS SAR trainings which positioned IRANSAR educational team and organization as one of the leaders in advance rescue training providers .The IRANSAR rescue volunteer staffs are recognized for their strong sense of professionalism and dedication.

Members and accomplishments
      
Currently, IRANSAR has growing to more than several hundreds volunteer rescuers and trained professionals providing rescue assistance during disasters. From early on, IRANSAR volunteers supported the airline disaster incident in the Kermanshaw mountain region in late 1990's and many other IRANSAR members assisted rescue efforts during 2003 Earthquake in Bam.

Highlights
  • Sept. 2000: IRANSAR offered the first Mountain Rescue course  with an introduction to Incident Command System (ICS) to the Iranian Red Crescent Society Rescue relief teams  . Currently, the mountain rescue training offered by IRANSAR is an standard program within the IRCS rescue curriculum.
  • Oct 2003: 130 IRCS rescue instructors were trained for the first time in Mountain Rescue and Swiftwater flood rescue training (SRT) and many of trained flood rescuers assist rescue efforts during flood in Caspian sea floods  . The IRANSAR Swiftwater training is currently the standard program in IRCS flood rescue curriculum.
  • Dec. 2004:  More than 100 mountaineers were trained for rescue response in snow , avalanches and more than 60 IRCS SAR personals were trained in flood and river rescue (SRT) Instructors program in  Ahvaz, Khozestan Province.
  • Jan. 2005: 14 rescue mountaineers were trained in in Toneh- kabon, Caspian Sea to respond to wilderness SAR call outs.        
  • Feb. 2005:  12 IRCS SAR personal from Touchal SAR station in conjunction with  IRANSAR rescue staffs conducted a join training on avalanche awareness  in Touchal mountain regions.
  • June 2005: Several (SRT) Swiftwater rescue instructors participated in the refresher training in Northern Karaj river, Tehran.
  • Summer,fall 2006: The IRANSAR provided SAR training seminars in Incident managements for the overhead personal, flood rescue and advance wilderness rescue .
  • Summer, fall 2007:   SAR trainings has been scheduled for several provinces focusing in disaster managements, flood rescue, Urban SAR and Mountain rescue.
